What is ISO 22317?

This international standard is a technical specification that explains how to set up, implement, and manage a Business Impact Analysis (BIA) process in detail. It does not prescribe a standard procedure for doing a Business Impact Analysis, but it does aid the company in developing a BIA process that matches their needs. Organizations cannot certify their BIAs to ISO 22317, but they can use it as a guide for implementing a BIA process efficiently. ISO 22317 is the first and only standard that addresses Business Impact Analysis alone. It is intended to be used in conjunction with ISO 22301, although it can also be used independently. The goal of Business Impact Analysis is to determine the true impact of a disruptive event on the company.

Why is Business Impact Analysis important for you?

You will be able to advance your expertise if you have the requisite information to establish a clear process for performing a Business Impact Analysis. You will be able to assist your organisation in identifying Business Continuity requirements that are vital to the organisation and its stakeholders as an ISO 22317 certified professional. You'll also be able to define a timeline for resuming operations after a disruptive incident and decide the necessities for resuming operations after a disaster.
