What is ISO 22610?
When a material is subjected to mechanical rubbing, ISO 22610:2018 specifies a test method and accompanying test apparatus for determining its resistance to the penetration of bacteria transported by a liquid.
Summary of tests
Resistance to wet bacterial penetration, ISO 22610
This test rotates an agar plate on an electrically driven turntable while a vertical finger presses on bacteria-inoculated material. The donor, or inoculated material, is placed on top of the test item. For 15 minutes, the finger is rotated at 60 revolutions per minute across the full surface of the plate. On the agar plate, the finger exerts a 3 Newton force. Bacteria can travel from the donor through the test specimen and down to the agar plate as a result of friction and liquid migration. The findings describe the barrier capability as well as penetration over time.
